Mobilising Uganda for Industrialisation and Economic Transformation

Industrialisation is a shared national responsibility requiring the participation of government, communities, farmers, entrepreneurs, investors, workers, youth, professionals and development partners.

As Chief Mobilizer of Amstrong Foundation Uganda, my role is to bring people together around the Foundation's vision of promoting industrialisation, value addition, entrepreneurship and innovation as drivers of Uganda's economic transformation.

Uganda's Economic Opportunity

Uganda has abundant agricultural resources, minerals, a young population and access to regional and international markets. Our challenge is to transform these resources into productive industries through:

Production → Processing → Manufacturing → Value Addition → Marketing → Export

The Power of Value Addition

Value addition creates jobs, strengthens businesses, increases exports and expands the national revenue base. Our young people must also be empowered to become entrepreneurs, manufacturers, innovators, technicians, investors and exporters, rather than remaining dependent on employment opportunities.

Inclusive Regional Development

Industrialisation must reach communities across the Central, Eastern, Northern and Western regions, connecting local resources and producers with processors, manufacturers, investors and markets.

Each region possesses distinctive resources and opportunities that can support different industries and value chains. Our approach is to ensure that industrial development is geographically inclusive and community-focused.

The Industrialisation Centre

Through the Amstrong Foundation Uganda Industrialisation Centre, we promote knowledge, skills, partnerships and practical opportunities that can turn industrial awareness into action.

The Centre serves as a platform for:

  • Research and policy advocacy
  • Skills development and training
  • Business planning and mentoring
  • Technology transfer and innovation
  • Partnership building and networking
  • Investment facilitation
Our Mobilisation Approach

Our mobilisation approach follows a strategic pathway:

Awareness → Organisation → Skills → Enterprise → Production → Value Addition → Markets → Growth

This approach ensures that communities:

  • Understand industrial opportunities in their regions
  • Organize themselves into productive groups and associations
  • Develop practical skills for production and entrepreneurship
  • Establish businesses and manufacturing enterprises
  • Increase productive output of quality goods
  • Add value through processing and finishing
  • Access local, regional and international markets
  • Achieve sustainable economic growth
A Mindset Shift for Development

I am committed to helping build a national movement that promotes:

  • Production over dependency – building productive capacity rather than remaining dependent on imports
  • Value addition over raw-material exports – processing and manufacturing rather than exporting raw materials
  • Entrepreneurship over job dependency – creating our own enterprises rather than waiting for employment
  • Innovation over limitations – solving problems creatively rather than accepting constraints
Building a National Movement

Industrial transformation cannot be achieved by the Foundation alone. It requires mobilising:

  • Government at national and local levels
  • Communities and households
  • Farmers and agricultural producers
  • Young entrepreneurs and innovators
  • Investors and financial institutions
  • Workers and trade unions
  • Researchers and universities
  • Professional bodies and associations
  • Development partners

When these different actors work together with a shared commitment to industrialisation, we can transform Uganda's economic future.

Our Commitment

Together, let us mobilise our people, develop our resources, build industries and create sustainable opportunities for Uganda's present and future generations.

"Mobilising People. Mobilising Resources. Building Industries. Transforming Uganda."
